The niche property Bank, which has its HQ on New Walk, is an enthusiastic member of Leicestershire Cares, which links businesses with community groups, and were delighted to be able to help LCiL – Leicestershire Centre for Integrated Living.
18 volunteers from the Bank’s Leicester HQ and Cambridge regional office spent a whole day painting the West End Centre’s hall and preparing the grounds at Andrews Street for a new LCiL group to enjoy weekly gardening sessions.
Inside, the redecorating included using blackboard paint so children can draw on it and the Real Junk Food Project Café can chalk up the menus that it creates using donated food that would have otherwise gone to waste.
One of the team leaders for the challenge, Customer Experience Manager Sophie Hartshorn said: “Everyone pitched in and worked very hard all day to help what is a fantastic organisation. We hope everyone who uses the Centre will be pleased with what we have achieved.”
John Coster, LCiL project manager, said: “The footfall at the Centre has been growing so much – we welcome more than 600 people a week – that keeping it all looking attractive is important. It’s great to get it back looking its best. Our thanks go to Cambridge & Counties Bank and its staff for getting involved and supporting us.”
Leicestershire Cares community development manager Sarah Green said: “The volunteers worked exceptionally hard at LCiL and they should be very proud of themselves.”
