Michael Petchey, who has lived at Rotary House for the Deaf since 2006, scooped the top prize in a raffle at the home for up to 20 residents on King Street in Norwich.
Michael was delighted to win the first prize, said Rotary House manager Angi Goldsmith: “He was ever so pleased. We sell our raffle tickets to lots of friends and family so for one of our own tenants to win the big prize is a bit special.
“The raffle, which this year raised £511, and our other fundraising during the year contributes towards tenant days out, for instance the Royal Norfolk Show, ten pin bowling and for a Christmas present for everybody at Rotary House.
“It can be hard to get prizes donated so when I got the call from Cambridge & Counties Bank to say we were being sent the hamper it was a real boost.”
Cambridge & Counties launched in 2012, offering property loans and asset finance to businesses and also market-leading deposit accounts and bonds to help firms and other groups including charities to earn good interest.
Sue Higginson, the Bank’s Director of Business Development in Cambridge, said:
“We thought it would be nice to celebrate our 10,000th savings account customer by sending them a gift. That it was a charity was a bonus and that Rotary House is such a good cause was wonderful.”
Rotary House was built in King Street in 1977 after the idea of providing accommodation for people with hearing problems was first put forward by members of the Rotary Club of Norwich. rotaryhouse4thedeaf.co.uk
