The £7.7 million funding is for City Edge, the newly opened student apartments on Hagley Road in a former office building by renowned Brutalist architect John Madin, who also designed the iconic former Birmingham Central Library.
The 136 high-spec studios at City Edge are fully occupied for the newly begun academic year. Cambridge & Counties Bank, which began lending in 2012 and opened its Birmingham office at Colmore Plaza in March 2016, worked with local advisers from Freeths and BNP Paribas on the deal.
The customer, Hagley Road Properties Limited, was introduced to Cambridge & Counties by Kingsbury-based Finance 4 Business (F4B) who worked closely with the Bank throughout the process. The loan was approved and drawn down in just eight weeks.
Hagley Road Properties is owned by Shaylor Holdings. Shaylor Group, national principal contractors, headquartered in Aldridge, carried out the conversion and extension of City Edge.
